About Josh

Josh is a Sunbury local through and through. He attended primary school at Sunbury Heights and secondary school at Sunbury College. Josh has held a number of jobs locally, starting out at Sunbury IGA and then becoming a manager at Sunbury Safeway. Because of these roles, Josh has an intimate understanding of how to work with and in our community.

After finishing high school, Josh went on to study a double degree in Science and Education at Deakin University. In 2007, he graduated successfully as a secondary school teacher with a major in environmental science. Both teaching and science and innovation remain some of Josh’s great passions.

During this time, Josh also went on to work as an Environmental Educator at the Gould League. Most recently, after a challenging selection process, Josh was honoured to be accepted into the Australian Defence Force as an Army Reserve Officer trainee.

Josh is also a member of the Diggers Rest Football Club and Gladstone Park Tennis Club.

Josh has always been a passionate believer in the power of education, and that every child should have every opportunity afforded to them, regardless of upbringing or perceived future. He has also developed a strong passion for the improvement of disability services. His mother worked as an integration aide for over 12 years, and has some very clever and wonderful friends who also have a serious disability. As your elected representative, he is committed to seeing disability services improved for all Victorians.

In 2014, Josh was elected as the Caucus Secretary to the State Parliamentary Labor Party. He chairs the Environment, Natural Resources and Regional Development Parliamentary Committee.
He is also a member of the Scrutiny of Acts and Regulations Committee, the Penalty Rates and Fair Pay Committee and the House Committee.

Josh lives in Sunbury with his wife, Jasmine. He is a keen Sydney Swans supporter and passionate advocate for the community. He is focused on accepting the challenges that growth areas present, and hasn’t wasted a day in ensuring that the voice of Bulla, Diggers Rest, Gladstone Park, Gowanbrae, Sunbury, Tullamarine, Westmeadows and Wildwood are heard.
