Members statements- Sunbury Fire (Christmas Day 2015)

Mr J. BULL (Sunbury) — I want to take this opportunity to sincerely acknowledge and thank all emergency services that responded to the Christmas Day fire in Sunbury that threatened homes and lives. Had it not been for the quick actions of firefighters, police, the State Emergency Service and all the other supporting agencies, the result may have been much more severe. As residents sat down to Christmas lunch, the fire tore through paddocks north of Sunbury, threatening homes along Racecourse Road and the Emu Bottom homestead. I want to thank each and every person who responded, particularly those volunteers who gave up Christmas to keep us safe.
