TULLA DEMONS FOOTBALL & CRICKET SET FOR NEW DIGS

Tullamarine Sporting Clubs will soon have the ultimate home ground advantage with game changing female friendly pavilion upgrades on the way at Leo Dineen Reserve.

Minister for Community Sport Ros Spence today announced a $500,000 investment from the Victorian Government’s Local Sports Infrastructure Fund towards the project.

With more and more families moving into the area the current small club rooms have been struggling to cope with the growing demand from local sports clubs like the Demons.

The pavilion upgrade will replace the ageing clubrooms with a multi-purpose pavilion featuring female and family friendly changerooms and amenities, umpires’ room, trainers/first aid room and accessible public toilets.

There’s also a kitchen and servery, storage space, office space and community space on the way that will be available for local sport as well as community use.

The new building will provide the perfect base for the 320-member Demons football and cricket clubs to build on their memberships, training, competitions and development programs at the ground.

The construction phase is expected to employ upwards of 12 people, based in trades, contracts and consultancy, with the project expected to be complete in mid-2022.

This project is one of 73 across the state, from junior tennis to lawn bowls, to have shared in $22 million from the 2021 Local Sports Infrastructure Fund.

It’s also part of the Government’s $1.1 billion investment in community sport and recreation infrastructure since 2014.

From playspace redevelopments to pavilion upgrades, investments like these provide high-quality and accessible places for Victorians to reap the benefits of sport and active recreation participation.

They are all about creating jobs, stimulating local economies, and fast-tracking community recovery by improving the health, wellbeing, and social outcomes for Victorian communities.

Ros Spence acknowledged Hume City Council for its commitment and financial contribution to the pavilion upgrade.
