Sunbury Little Athletics, the Sunbury & District Dog Obedience Club and the Sunbury Angling Club can look forward to brand new facilities with the completion of upgrades to Pavilion 1 at Eric Boardman Memorial Reserve.

Member for Sunbury Josh Bull today joined members of the local Sunbury Clubs to officially open Pavilion 1 as part of the $2 million Victorian Government backed upgrades at Eric Boardman Memorial Reserve.

Major works have seen Pavilion 1 replaced with a modular pavilion complete with amenities, kitchen and servery, office/administration room, community space and internal storage zones.

The other two pavilion upgrades at the ground will be completed by mid-2022. They are being refurbished to include female friendly change rooms as well as umpire facilities, accessible toilets, storage and a community space.

Pavilion 2 and 3 will provide appropriate facilities to accommodate the more than 1,200 players from the Sunbury Kangaroos as well as the Sunbury Cricket Club and other local clubs.

These upgrades allow more players and community members to train, compete, participate in development programs and enjoy local celebrations.

Better sport and recreation facilities make it easier for players, coaches, umpires and supporters of all abilities to get involved in local sport and lead healthy and active lifestyles.

Investments like these provide high-quality and accessible places for Victorians to reap the benefits of local sport and active recreation.

The Victorian Government has invested more than $1.1 billion in community sport and recreation infrastructure since 2014.

Mr Bull acknowledged Hume City Council for its commitment and financial contribution to both projects.
