Members statements – AUSTRALIAN CHINESE EVENTS COMMITTEE

Mr J BULL (Sunbury) (13:53:13): It was terrific to represent the Premier and the Minister for Multicultural Affairs at the Australian Chinese Events Committee gala charity ball on Saturday night. Significant funds were raised to support the Pancare Foundation, whose purpose is to increase survival and provide support to people affected by pancreatic cancer. Pancreatic cancer often has no symptoms, so it is not usually found until the advanced stage, contributing to a low survival rate. Currently it is the eighth most common type of cancer in Australia and the fifth most common cause of death from cancer. Pancreatic cancer is projected to be the second‑leading cause of cancer‑related deaths by 2030. I would like to take the opportunity to thank all of those who came along on the night to support such a worthy cause.
