VINEYARD ROAD SHARED PATH NEARING FINISH LINE

The Andrews Labor Government is nearing completion on a vital connection which for the first time will link cyclists and pedestrians between Diggers Rest and Sunbury.

Member for Sunbury Josh Bull today visited the site of the $1.1 million project, where concrete is being poured for the new shared cycling and walking path on the western side of Vineyard Road and the Calder Freeway overpass.

The one kilometre long shared path will significantly improve safety by separating pedestrians and cyclists from vehicles.

Cyclists will no longer have to ride close to traffic on busy Vineyard Road, while pedestrians will also have a safe connection along the corridor.

It will also fill a gap in the local cycling network between Diggers Rest and Sunbury, encouraging more people to walk or ride around their community.

The shared path is being funded by the Labor Government’s Growth Areas Infrastructure Contribution program, which supports key projects in Melbourne’s growing outer suburbs.

The path is expected to be opened mid-year.
