NATIONAL YOUTH WEEK 2016 GRANTS NOW OPEN!

The Andrews Labor Government is supporting young people in Sunbury with $187,000 in grants to celebrate National Youth Week in 2016, Member for Sunbury, Josh Bull announced today.

Council, local community organisations and schools in Sunbury are encouraged to apply for grants of up to $2000 to assist with putting on National Youth Week celebrations.

In 2016 National Youth Week will be held from 8 to 17 April.

Mr. Bull said that the grants will support local young people to plan and host events and activities during National Youth Week 2016 – like art shows, concerts and other activities that celebrate young people’s achievements and get them involved in their communities.

National Youth Week is an annual, week-long celebration of young people who are 12 to 25 years old, allowing them to express their creativity and have their say about issues important to them.

Organisations will be able to apply for grants of up to $2000 to support their National Youth Week event.

This year 92 local government, community organisations and schools received National Youth Week grants which resulted in more than 19,500 young people from across Victoria participating in events and activities.

National Youth Week 2016 is jointly funded by the Victorian and Commonwealth Governments.

Applications are open until Friday 13 November 2015. Visit www.youthcentral.vic.gov.au/nyw to apply or find out more.

In addition to Youth Week Grants the Labor Government provided $8 million in the 2015-16 Victorian Budget for programs that benefit and support young Victorians.
