MORE KINDER FOR FAMILIES IN MELBOURNE’S NORTH WEST

Thursday, 17 May, 2018

The Andrews Labor Government is helping families access bigger, better kindergarten services, with two kinders officially completing renovations.

Member for Sunbury Josh Bull today visited Stewarts Lane Kindergarten in Sunbury and Taylor Drive Preschool in Gladstone Park – both which have undergone significant refurbishments and upgrades.

The $99,077 upgrade of Stewarts Lane Kindergarten – one of the area’s most high-demand centres – will create an extra 19 four-year-old kinder places from 102 to 121, and remove several internal doors to improve the flow of usability of the space.

The Labor Government provided $43,725 and Hume City Council $55,352 for the upgrade, which will help ensure all children in Sunbury can find a kinder place.

The Labor Government and Hume City Council also teamed up to provide a total $59,874 to upgrade the Taylor Drive Preschool, with the play areas expanded while also increasing the number of four-year-old kinder places from 60 to 66.

The Labor Government is delivering a record $123.6 million to build, expand and improve kinders across Victoria to ensure local families can continue to access great local kindergartens.

Local families will also benefit from the Government’s $202.1 million Education State Early Childhood Reform Plan.

This ground-breaking reform plan recognises the importance of providing families with strong support in early childhood, so kids are ready for kinder and ready for school.

It will mean local parents can access improved parenting support and Maternal and Child Health Services, as well as higher quality and more inclusive kindergartens.
